Felting using needle appliqué moulds is a very simple technique, just right for beginners to felting.
Materials: Wool; felting needle; biscuit cutters; foam pad; ribbon; scissors
Pull off a section of wool (do not cut).
Place the wool into the biscuit cutter. The amount of wool you use depends on how thick you want the felt be.
Wool can also be gradually added to the mould.
Poking with the felting needle ties the fibres together (like a sewing machine). Start at the edges and work toward the centre.
As soon as the wool retains its form, remove the heart and turn it over in the mould. Continue felting on the other side. This process can be repeated several times until a firm, even shape is created and fibres cannot be pulled out.
Remove the felted heart from the form and finish the edges with a needle.
Cut a 15 – 20 cm length of ribbon and tie into a bow.
Stitch the bow onto the decoration.
Attach the ribbon for hanging the decoration to the reverse side.
Use the heart as a Christmas or Valentine’s Day decoration.
